I hit Mt. Hood Meadows Wednesday. I didn’t exactly catch the first chair (the late news is even later during the Olympics), but there were still freshies galore all late morning and early afternoon. Good times.
And the good news is the pow pow keeps on powering in. You’ll be treated to 8-15” of new snow on Mt. Hood, 8-12” at Anthony Lakes and 4-8” at Mt. Bachelor and Willamette Pass.
The snow level is only rising slightly with Thursday’s weather system, to about 3,000 feet, so it should still be good quality snow in all areas. If you can’t make it up Thursday, there should be new snow Friday morning from the end of the Thursday evening snowfall.
If you can’t make it up Friday, you get some bluebird and warmer weather for the weekend. Everyone’s a winner.
Looking farther ahead, next week won’t bring the prolific snowfall of this week, but there will be some new snow Monday and probably again later in the week. I also see the potential for some good snowfalls in the first week of March.
Happy Trails and Turns,
Matt Zaffino
