Anthony Lakes Ski Area

With the highest base elevation of any ski area in the state (7,100 feet) and located in the Elkhorn Ridge of the Blue Mountains, Anthony Lakes has the recipe for light, dry snow.

Anthony Lakes Ski Area is a proud participant of Ski Green. Ski Green is a partnership between the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) and leaders in the snowsports industry to build support for non-polluting renewable sources of energy (such as wind and solar energy).

Hoodoo Ski & Recreation has a great event, BC Fest 2016, coming up next weekend celebrating human powered backcountry touring with informative seminars, industry pros, brand demos and great live entertainment. ...

2017 BC Fest Itinerary Backcountry Festival, presented by Three Creeks Brewing Co., returns to Hoodoo on Jan. 20-21 with the largest selection of 2017 all-terrain demo equipment on site in the Northwest. The event includes seminars, industry professionals, live music, a beer garden and a variety of races scheduled throughout the day. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top two male and female racers in each race. Kids can earn their Junior Ranger Snow Badge by participating in the four levels of winter science and wildlife. Interactive displays on the snow will showcase the best backcountry hardgoods and accessories, while providing skiers and riders with critical safety information. Guests can also try out the latest models of fat bikes, skies, boots, bindings and lightweight goods. Pack your snow tent and 800-fill sleeping bag and campout for two full nights of backcountry culture at its finest. This is your chance to celebrate every form of human powered touring into the backcountry. Whether you ride, glide, slide, bike, run or walk into the backcountry, you won’t want to miss BC Fest 2017. BC FEST 2017 SCHEDULE: FRIDAY, JAN. 20 • 1p – 9p: Snow camp set up. Bring everything you would need to snow camp in the backcountry but set up next to the Hoodoo lodge. There will be a clearly marked area and of course close to the action. Lights out at Midnight. $10 overnight camping fee is required. Please check in at ticket office • 3p – 9p: Fire Pit and Three Creeks Brewing Company Beer Garden on the snow. • 5p – 9p: DJ on the patio • 5p - 9p: Ski flicks on the Snow SATURDAY, JAN. 21 • 7:30a: Sunrise Burn and Turn • 8a-10a: Pancake breakfast in the lodge. Two pancakes, eggs, bacon and coffee. • 9a – 2p: Gear Demo: Berg’s Ski and Snowboard shop and Blazing Saddles, Euro Sports will be onsite to demo gear. Additional shops are to be determined. • 9a – 4p: 2017 Gear Preview: Scarpa, La Sportiva, G3, Voile’, Arc’Teryx, Black Diamond, Dynastar, Look, Lange, Burton, • TBD: Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit Avalanche Beacon Searching. Come join Corvallis Mountain Rescue Unit (CMRU) members for an opportunity to practice skills associated with beacon searching. Bring your beacon, probe, and shovel to practice single person, multiple burial, coarse search, and refine search skills. Enquire at CMRU booth 1/23. • 10a – 2p: Junior Snow Ranger certification. Registration forms in Mtn Hardware Space Station Tent. • 10a: Fat Bike Course – Circle course set up in bowl for bikers to test their agility skills over obstacles and around banks. • 1p – 9p: Three Creeks Brewing Company Beer Garden on the patio. • 12n-4p DJ On the Patio • 1p: Downhill slalom – Free heal only. Registration in Mtn. Hardware Space Station Tent. One run only • 1:30p: Hoodoo Fat Bike Round-a-Bout – Fat bike Race on Ray Benson Trail. Course track will be set. Registration in Mtn. Hardware Space Station Tent • 2p-4p: Backcountry Travel Prep and Decision Making and Mock Tour Travel in the BC* *Know before you go? What do you need to take? Why and how? This presentation will discuss how to set you up for success for a trip into avalanche terrain. The discussion will set markers to help combat the “human factor” and make decisions while in the field. Solid trip planning will allow you to find the best snow to ski given the days conditions and insure the whole team has a voice. Topics will include; interpreting online avalanche reports, general trip planning, group management, equipment, evaluating team and observations, choosing terrain options, and setting up emergency response plans. It will delve into the AIARE Avalanche Field book and how to better use this tool to help make any day in the backcountry a success.” After the one hour sessions take a mock tour focusing on how to travel in the BC and how to decide what to ski. • 3p – 9p: Fire pit in the bowl. • 4:15p: Trophy ceremony – BC Fest custom leather Growler Carrier and pint Sheath for top placers • 5p-6p: Alder St. Band live music on the patio • 6:30p-9p: Alder St. Band live music on the patio.
